Palace of Fine Arts
I learned a lot making this one! Turns out I knew nothing about this landmark! The structure was originally contructed in 1915 as part of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition celebrating the completion of the Panama Canal (over 4,000 miles away….weird) but tbh was more to show off San Francisco’s recovery after the 1906 earthquake. But it was actually how u say “a big piñata” and was made of non-sturdy plaster and wood. It was mostly demolished after the exposition but later reconstructed out of good ol’ concrete and metal in 1974 and fingers crossed still stands today!
Although the palace of fine arts has nothing to do with the White Lotus, the majesty of the Roman-inspired design and beautiful landscaping reminded me of the extravagance of show I just binged and I thought meshed very well aesthetically.
