Has anybody seen my dawg?????? 😭

Time for honesty hour 😕 When the big Doggie Diner heads popped up on JFK back in 2022….I HATED THEM. They SCARED ME. My roommate and I often ran on JFK back then and without fail would come back home and always have SOMETHING to say about them, “They just look so GUMMY”, “I feel like they might be aliens?”, “THE EYES FOLLOW YOU”.

But then the incident happened. Someone set one on fire in June 2023 and they were promptly removed. Suddenly I missed the beaty eyes and mischievous smile that greeted me on my runs. Yeah they were weird and grotesque but they were also unique, whimsical, FUNNY, and a reminder that everything does’t have to be beautiful and restrained.

There have been many efforts to persevere and restore the Doggie Diner Heads by countless individuals, some reside on Treasure Island, and a new Doggie Diner will even open in Napa Valley soon! I can’t wait to check it out! But I just miss the days when they were right in my backyard 😢 And to whoever set them on fire I hope you step in a BIG pile of doggie doo doo 💩
